Cloud computing has become a fundamental technology in the modern digital landscape, as businesses experience growth and expansion, the need for cloud skills becomes increasingly necessary. No worry if you are new to cloud, here I’m thrilled to share my experience to help you kickstart your cloud journey. In this blog, I’ll share the three steps I recommend to get started in AWS Cloud Computing.
How I discovered cloud computing
In my initial professional journey, I embarked on a career as an electrical engineer, aligning with my college studies. However, like many women, life events such as relocation and the responsibilities of maternity and child care led me to temporarily step away from my professional role. Despite the challenges, a desire to reenter the workforce fueled my determination. Motivated to resume my career, I turned to the online community on Facebook for guidance. There, I posted a query seeking advice on how to navigate this transitional phase. It was through this virtual network that I discovered Aspire for Her (AFH), a platform dedicated to supporting and empowering women in their professional pursuits. Through Aspire for Her(AFH) with collaboration with AWS (Amazon Web Services) I got selected in AWS re/start cohort. Through this cohort my AWS learning journey started. AWS re/start is a cohort-based workforce development training program that focuses on teaching IT foundations and AWS Cloud technologies.
After completing the cohort I earned my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification. I also got an invite to the AWS Emerging Talent Community, where I learned about new cloud training resources, connected with others who are learning cloud skills. Also after certification got chance to become a member of AWS Global Certified Community. From here got the chance to network with peers, connect with AWS experts, gain access to exclusive learning opportunities, and participate in challenges from the AWS team to earn rewards and recognition.
How I got started with AWS Skillbuilder
Through re/start cohort I came to know about the AWS Skillbuilder. It is a online learning platform. Over 500 free digital courses are available on AWS Skill Builder. I completed AWS Cloud Practiotioner Essentilas learning plan, course on AWS IAM, AWS Technical Essentilas etc and played AWS Cloud Practioner Cloud Quest game.
How I got started AWS Educate
Through this cohort only I came to know about the AWS Educate. It is a online learning platform. AWS Educate is open to any individual, regardless of where they are in their education, technical experience, or career journey.AWS Educate offers hundreds of hours of self-paced training and resources for new-to-cloud learners — including hands-on labs in the AWS Management Console. Here I completed AWS Cloud computing 101 course where I learnt about basic AWS cloud skills…
Three steps to get started in the cloud

You will learn about AWS Cloud concepts, security concepts, common use cases, billing and pricing models and business impacts.You can earn a digital badge for completing all assignments for Cloud Practitioner. AWS Cloud Quest digital badges enable you to demonstrate your solution building knowledge.
