I started this journey because I love food and was super curious about where our favorite dishes come from. Being from Malaysia, where food is a big part of who we are, I wanted to share how food and history come together. So, I created "TimeFlavors" to make learning about old food fun and easy for everyone.
"TimeFlavors" is all about mixing old recipes with cool new tech from PartyRock and some prompt engineering with the help of ChatGPT. This mix lets us bring back ancient meals for you to try out today. It's like a time machine for your taste buds! You get to cook dishes from long ago and learn all about the stories and people behind them. It's not just cooking; it's like going on a tasty trip through history.
This isn't just another cooking app. "TimeFlavors" opens up a whole world of food stories. It tells you about the history behind each dish, making cooking a way to learn about different cultures and times. It's a fun way to make history and cooking exciting.
For example, "medieval bread" or "Victorian desserts." In my case, I was curious about how Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken in Malaysia was like in 1900.
- View the Results: The app will display the recipes and images through four widgets. The Recipe widget will show the old recipe with the modern adaptation.
- Explore the History of the History: Below the recipes, you'll see a brief history of the dish, explaining its origins and evolution through time.
- Visualize the Transformation: Two images will accompany the text. The first image on the top showcases the dish as it is known today, and the second image provides a glimpse into what it might have looked like back then.
- Ask Away: the next widget is a chatbot that has all the context above.
- Inquire and Explore: Curious about the ingredients used in the 16th century? Wondering how a particular cooking technique evolved? Just ask! Type your questions into the chat, and the chatbot will provide you with answers, further information, or even more recipes related to your query.
