Ec2 instance types - Scheduled reserved instances vs AWS Auto scaling

I read a scenario that scheduled reserved instances are used when we have certain time specific work load increase. Eg: 9am before school starts or before office hours, have more instances for scalability.

Similar thing can be achieved using auto scaling my mentioning minimum number of instances. Can some one throw light on difference between these two options with example scenarios?
