This episode of Let's Talk About Data was about Database Activity Stream (DAS) for Amazon RDS. Lydia and Ibrahim talked about how DAS lets you audit and secure RDS databases. It streams database activity logs in near real-time from Amazon RDS to Kinesis Data Stream, then AWS Lambda pulls data from Kinesis Data Stream and ingest those into Amazon OpenSearch. It is also equipped with feature that could prevents anyone from changing the audit logs policies. By doing so, it gives an unchangeable source of truth. They showed how to set up DAS for an Oracle RDS instance, encrypt the stream with KMS, and send data to Amazon OpenSearch to analyze and visualize. Key benefits of DAS are it's easy to use, secure, and meets compliance rules.
